A true hidden gem. Sempiternal Deathreign was one of the forefathers of the Death/Doom genre, and helped to shape it the way we know it today. This album is a lost piece of art, forgotten by time, but not by its loyal fans. Chock full of haunting/ piercing riffs, this sounds much better than their demo (which is not to say the demo was bad), but The Spooky Gloom has a much more refined sound and definitely deserving of all its praise.
The vocals have improved; on the demo, they wavered here and there, but after another year of practice, this got has gotten good. His style fits the music perfectly, that sort of half-growl, half-rasp. Very crunchy indeed, none of that half-assed stuff. Genuine!
