This is it. Some of Mexico's finest right here, and at such an early stage in Death Metal's history! Not exactly a demo, more of an album in appearances, and actually kind of a mistake in its release. Is it a rehearsal? Who cares! This is some of the most bizarre and innovative Death Metal you will ever absorb into your ears.

Highly original and atmospheric, this is full of squeaky, chaotic guitar riffing and soloing, a variety of atmospheres, neat keyboard use... this demo has it all. A few doomy songs here and there, it sounds like these guys had a blast recording this piece of art (yes, this is some goddamn art if you ask me). There are no boundaries that this band didn't cross in the recording of the Cyber Death Demo. Look out for the next post, which will contain Souls Vortex, their EP/Single with a perfected sound!

Highly recommended.

  1. Wow! Nice review! This was Hardware's first "proper" recording. It was recorded into a sound mixer and some noise/ambient sounds were added later along with the guttural vocals. I played drums here, hehe. Sloppy in some places, but like you said, we had a blast doing this. I'm a guitarist really but loved drums so I went for them here. Manuel (ex-Pentagram drummer) took over when I returned to guitar in my other band.
If I'm correct, most of the songs were written by Luiz Ahumada, with whom I played in another band. Jorge Ruiz also played guitar here and did some writing too. Juan Carlos, the singer, came up with all the weird song titles. The bass guitar has put on later and was played by either Luiz or Jorge. After that, a good friend of ours (Vale) took over the bass guitar. Right after recording this we had our first major concert, opening for OBITUARY in February of 1991. I must have that concert on video tape somewhere, both us and Obituary, who were great dudes.
I think WILD RAGS in L.A. distributed this early on, plus Juan Carlos sent the tape all over the world. Back then (at least what I recall) we wanted to mix technical yet brutal death metal with experimental industrial music, kind of like EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN meets ENTOMBED or something like that. Hahaha!

Anyway, thanx for the post and hope all bloggers enjoy HARDWARE!
