Just when you thought you had it all... here's one more thing for the truly dedicated Visceral Evisceration fan: a rehearsal tape containing seven full recordings from rehearsal sessions during September/October of 1994, after the full-length was released.

Included are two more unreleased tracks, one untitled, and the other "Butchered Magnificence". Both sound more like what you'd expect from Visceral Evisceration, compared to the other rehearsals on this blog, probably due to the fact that these are later recordings, after they settled into their sound. In fact, there is a possibility that those other rehearsals aren't even Visceral Evisceration, although they certainly sound like them, and there's no denying the "Gangling Menstrual Blood-Broth for Supper" rehearsal track.

The first unreleased track is very riff oriented, while the second focuses more on drumming.

But wait, there's more! Also on this tape is an earlier recording of the song "Impassioned Arousal" from the Promo 1995, and an acoustic version of "Chewing Female Genital Parts". They were possibly stoned, although I've been told that they didn't usually smoke at their rehearsals. Regardless, an incredibly interesting take on this classic song.

Closing out the rehearsal are rehearsed versions of the two songs that weren't featured on the 1993 demo Savour of the Seething Meat, and what appears to be their favorite track, "Tender Flesh... on the Bier".

Yeah, I know I just posted this, like, one post ago, but this is the proper rip of this recording. If you're as observant as I am, you'll have noticed that on the Metal Archives, the songs are listed with different lengths, well the upload here is the correct one. In addition to longer songs, the production is much fuller and heavier, unlike the other, which seemed to have that tinny sound. This copy is much more similar to Visceral Evisceration's full-length, which means it is that much more enjoyable!

Almost 15 years have passed since the recording of this dark and enigmatic promo and after a long time spent searching for it, here it is, the elusive promo of the band Visceral Evisceration Changed their name to, As I Lay Dying.

Ever since listening to Incessant Desire for Palatable Flesh, I have desperately wanted to hear this; I'd have done anything. Visceral Evisceration's lifespan was just too short. It wasn't fair. I wanted more. Well, dreams came true when this finally surfaced. And let me tell you, it is magnificent. Everything I could have ever expected is here, and more. Maybe you thought they went mainstream after changing their name? Maybe you thought they'd go for a style change or something? HELL NO. This is the same Visceral Evisceration we all know and love.

A self-released demo, the production is not as squeaky clean as on their full-length, but it's hardly noticeable once you start getting into the songs. The male vocals remain, but the female vocals have been nixed. It seems this release focuses a lot on instrumental (especially guitar) prowess and that is exactly what I wanted. Jürgen Hajek is a God among Gods when it comes to the guitar and he really shows it. The beautiful song structures remain, especially in the 7 minute instrumental epic "Magnificence". Very reminiscent of "Knee Deep in Blood I Wade".

Still can't believe it took this long for such a hidden gem to come out of hiding, but holy fucking shit has it been worth the wait. You're going to download this.

This... is the greatest album of all-time. Hands down. And I'm not just talking about strictly metal, but music as a whole. Never did I think I would ever come across a perfect album- no... THE perfect album, but here it is, before my eyes, before my ears, Visceral Evisceration's Incessant Desire for Palatable Flesh.

I have no idea where to start with this incredible work of beauty, but I'll start out with highlights: all of them. Yes, every song on this album has been crafted into pure bricks of perfect musical gold. On every song you'll find overwhelmingly heartfelt and comely riffs, seeping energy and sparkling brilliance. The song-structure to accompany these is flawless, as well. Nothing is repeated in excess; we have the perfect balance of choruses, verses, fancy guitar work, melody, aggression, and intensity. The tracks are written in such a way that I never want them to end and am sad to see each one pass by (even though the average song length is like 9 minutes!).

Vocals are another equally outstanding facet to this release. Essentially, we have three different types: male operatic, male harsh, and female operatic vocals. All of these combined come together to make for one hell of a beautiful album with each vocal style complementing the other and providing the perfect contrast between light and dark, grim and pulchritude, chaos and serenity.

I should also include a bit about the lyrical content. It's very much tongue-in-cheek, over the top gore lyrics. Just reading the insert makes me sick to my stomach and I find it as one more unique identifying factor that points to the amazing sense of dynamics and contrast this band has. How can one sing about such horrors, yet create such beautiful music?

Yes, I know I keep using the word "beautiful", but don't think it's for no good reason. The album is in itself sheer beauty. Never thought I'd say that about such a terrifying band on paper, but in the music, it's all there.
